From Impulse to Action

A Multi-Disciplinary Discussion on Brachial Plexus and Peripheral Nerve Injuries

Target Audience

Plastics, neuro and orthopedic surgeons, hand surgeons, neurologists, physiatrists, emergency room physicians, physician extenders, physical therapists and other health care professionals with an interest in brachial plexus and peripheral nerve.

Course Description

This full-day course will combine the latest in diagnosis and management of adult and obstetrical brachial plexus and peripheral nerve injuries. The course will review the current literature and highlight the latest management principles, as well as provide tips and techniques useful for practitioners treating such injuries.

Our goal is to enable physicians, occupational therapists and other health care providers in our community to feel comfortable in their management of brachial plexus and peripheral nerve pathology.

Educational Objectives

After participating in this activity, clinicians should be able to:

  • Describe controversies in timing of peripheral nerve repair and determine what  components are needed to create a strong treatment protocol
  • Describe at least three technical points in the algorithm of care
  • Identify the multiple disciplines needed to cover the care of these patients

The course will review the current literature and highlight the latest management principles, as well as provide tips and techniques useful for practitioners treating pediatric injuries. Our goal is to enable physicians, physical therapists and other health care providers in our community to feel comfortable in their management of pediatric orthopaedic and sports medicine pathology.

Pediatricians, family physicians, emergency room physicians, orthopaedists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, occupational therapists, physical therapists, athletic trainers and other healthcare professionals with an interest in the pediatric/adolescent athlete
